Physiotherapists

General Information:

Our Physiotherapists have trained in a particular way to provide you with a high quality of service, no matter who you see. We have all been trained in:

  • Sacro-Iliac Joint (Pelvis) Treatment - We use gentle and safe techniques to effectively treat this area having been taught by some of the world's leading Physiotherapists in pelvic-girdle pain. Antony travels to Perth twice a year to lecture about the SIJ on Australia's most popular post-graduate Physiotherapy Masters Degree at the University of Western Australia.
  • Thorax and Rib Treatment - This is an area that is poorly understood generally...however, we specialise in the assessment and treatment of dysfunctions and pain from this region. If you have back, neck or shoulder pain, we will check your thorax to see if it is a problem.
  • Ante and Post Natal Treatment - We use gentle techniques that are safe for you and your baby. We have an excellent working relationship with the obstetricians in our area. Click here to view our Pregnancy Brochure.
  • Acupuncture / Dry Needling - We use a gentle combination of Eastern and Western needling techniques to help release Trigger Points and relax overactive muscles
  • Golf Physiotherapy - Antony and Adrian have completed the PGA-approved course run by their golf consultant - Ramsay McMaster. As a Sports Physiotherapist, Derek is also well qualified to treat golf injuries.
  • Exercise Programmes - We can write Pilates, home-based and gym-based programmes. We can also liase with your exercise instructor so they understand what your diagnosis is and how we intend to help you recover.

Colin Phillips - Physiotherapist
B.Sc(Hons) Physiotherapy (University of Liverpool)

Colin joined our Practice in 2011 having previously worked in Ireland, UK, Zambia and NZ.

It all started in 2001 for Colin. His studies began with a 2 year Certificate in Applied physiology and Health Science in Carlow, Ireland. Following this he went on to study a further 3 year Honours Physiotherapy Degree programme at the University of Liverpool in England.

Colin has experience in public, private and voluntary physiotherapy settings. His main area of expertise and experience is musculoskeletal physiotherapy having a particular interest in the diagnosis, management and prevention of acute sports injuries.  He is trained in a variety of different treatment techniques including, Deep tissue massage, manipulation, acupuncture, kinesio taping and of course exercise prescription.  Being an active sports person he understands the importance of enjoying sports and recreation without pain or discomfort and an early return to the playing field.

Colin is passionate about helping others. During a 3 month period in Zambia he treated disabled children and helped to build a new school classroom. He was also involved in corrective surgery for some of the children he treated. Colin’s goal is to be able to regularly donate his time to different charities using his physiotherapy skills.

So if you have any aches, pains or you just want to maximise your sporting potential, book in to see Colin or come and see any of our highly skilled team at Penshurst Physiotherapy Centre

Sylvia Harvey - APA Physiotherapist
B.Sc (Physiotherapy)(University of Stellenbosch)

Sylvia joined our team in 2009 having travelled the world. She finished her degree in South Africa and has been in private practices after a 6 month period in the hospital system. She has worked in South Africa, the UK and now Australia as a Physiotherapist.

Sylvia, like all physios chosen to work at our practice, is a manual therapist - that is, we all prefer one-to-one treatment rather than using machines (electrotherapy). She has a wide experience in sports and musculoskeletal injuries - basically if it hurts or aches, she will be able to assess and treat it.

Sylvia is currently on maternity leave.

Kathryn  Jobling - Part Time Physiotherapist
B.App.Sc(Physiotherapy)(University of Sydney)

Kathryn completed her studies at the University of Sydney in 2008. She then worked in the public hospital system and gained skills in treating a variety of conditions from back pain to post-surgical rehabilitation, to respiratory and neurological conditions.

In 2010 she joined the team at PPC part time, whilst also working at the Student Christian Group at Cumberland Campus where she studied and has now gone on to begin full time studies at Mroling Theological College. Kathryn will be helping out during the holidays when she can.

Adrian commenced his Physiotherapy study at the University of Sydney in 1997. Since his graduation, he worked in the public hospital system before coming on-board the www.MyPhysios.com.au team in 2002.

He has a special interest in necks and backs and has an excellent reputation amongst the local Obstetricians for his ante/post natal treatment and exercise. He too is a keen golfer and more naturally gifted than his older brother...but still can't beat him!

Adrian commenced his Medical Degree in 2009 and will work during the holidays helping out when he can.
